Who is Liang Dongqing?

Liang Dongqing's personal experience is quite outstanding.

According to her resume, she was born in 1983, obtained a bachelor's degree in economics from Nankai University in 2005 and a master's degree in economics from Peking University in 2008.

Liang Dongqing joined CICC's research department after graduating from Peking University, and later held positions such as head of the company's wealth research department and co-executive head of the wealth service center.

Later, she also held positions such as general manager and chairman of China Investment Securities Investment Co., Ltd., and general manager of CICC Wealth Product Center.

The announcement also revealed that prior to this appointment, Liang Dongqing was already a member of the CICC Party Committee, China CICC Wealth Securities Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as(“CICC Wealth”) Member of the Party Committee, Member of the Executive Committee, Vice President, Chairman of the Trade Union and Head of Product and Solution Tribe, and a director of CICC Wealth Futures Co., Ltd., holds nearly ten important positions.

Has been deeply involved in wealth management

The Shishido also noticed that Liang Dongqing once described his experience in a conversation like this:

“In 2008, I graduated from graduate school and joined CICC. My first job was research-related work. By chance at the end of 2009, a few of my colleagues and I moved to the company's wealth management business segment. I didn't expect this choice to change my career for the next ten years or so.”

According to relevant data, CICC began planning wealth management business in 2007, which was quite forward-looking in China's securities industry at the time.

According to reports, Liang Dongqing began to be responsible for product research after being in the CICC Wealth Management Department. He has participated in product design work and research framework construction in various categories such as hedge funds, private equity funds, fixed income, public funds, and overseas products.

After 2010, the internationalization of Chinese financial institutions began to accelerate, continuously absorbing advanced methodologies for overseas wealth management.

Liang Dongqing once recalled that her first job in the wealth management department was to study what financial products can be invested from an international perspective to target the current state of investable financial products in China at the time.

She once revealed that in 2010, she and her team members wrote an annual report on Sunshine Private Equity. At the time, the size of China's Sunshine Private Equity was “only” 130 billion yuan.

In fact, Sunshine Private Equity is an “early product” of China's private equity industry. After the private equity fund filing system was introduced in 2014, the name Sunshine Private Equity withdrew from the historical stage and was replaced by securities private equity investment funds.

It once “called” for the transformation of brokerage firms

In a statement to the outside world, Liang Dongqing said that the way of thinking about the brokerage exhibition industry needs to be fundamentally changed. It is not possible to help customers trade stocks or recommend stocks in a way that works best with the main business and maximizes brokers' profits; instead, it is necessary to provide solutions for clients' wealth management through account management and allocation across asset classes.

In a speech, she also shared her views on the role of women in family wealth management:

Women take risk more seriously, or are more likely to be in awe of the market. In the wealth preservation stage, women have an advantage over men. In the wealth creation stage, this is relatively not absolute; men may have a slight advantage over women.

Follow-up performance is worth watching

Shishido learned that under the board of directors, CICC has established a management committee chaired by the chairman or president.

As of now, the chairman of the CICC Management Committee is Chen Liang. He also serves as the company's chairman and executive director.

According to CICC's 2023 annual report, there are a total of 9 senior executives on the management committee, and they are all men.

After Liang Dongqing was appointed, she became the only female member of the CICC Management Committee and one of the few post-80s female executives in history.
