Andy Chan, General Manager of the local travel booking platform Klook in Hong Kong and Macau, stated that they have noticed a decline in the booking volume of some local travel products, such as hotel staycation products, due to the impact of Hong Kong people traveling overseas. He mentioned that Hong Kong people's consumption patterns have also changed, shifting from preferring expensive dining experiences to more affordable restaurant choices.
As for the platform's outbound travel product bookings, there has been a significant increase, especially after experiencing retaliatory consumption by Hong Kong people from 2023 to 2024. Therefore, the current volume of outbound travel product bookings has completely surpassed the level of 2019. He also pointed out that Hong Kong people now tend to be more budget-conscious, not willing to spend too much money on flights and hotels, but rather invest more in experiential consumption.
In addition, when asked about the situation of Klook's planned listing in Hong Kong, Andy Chan revealed that the company has indeed been interested in going public and has a team planning for the listing, but there is currently no timeline for implementation. As of June this year, Klook's total monthly platform visits are 71 million, with a total of 0.148 billion completed travel transactions.
