Located in the Songshan Lake area of Dongguan, the China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) is a major scientific and technological infrastructure project constructed during the "12th Five-Year Plan" period. As China's first and the world's fourth pulsed spallation neutron source, the facility was planned since July 2000, the foundation stone was laid in October 2011, and the first phase of the project passed the national acceptance in August 2018 after nearly 20 years. At the beginning of this year, the construction of the second phase of the CSNS project officially started.
