Fisco Japan ·  Sep 26 15:51

As of the closing on the 26th, the number of stocks that rose in the Nikkei average composition was 217, the number of stocks that fell was 8, and the number that remained unchanged was 0.

On the 25th, the US stock market was mixed. The Dow Jones fell by 293.47 points (-0.70%) to 41,914.75, the Nasdaq rose by 7.69 points (+0.04%) to 18,082.21, and the S&P 500 fell by 10.67 points (-0.19%). The OECD's upward revision of the global economic growth forecast led to buying sentiment, causing an increase after the opening bell. However, profit-taking sales intensified near record highs for the Dow, and August new home sales decreased from July, turning into a significant decline. The Nasdaq was weighed down by rising long-term interest rates, but the semiconductor sector remained strong, providing support and closing slightly higher. The Dow expanded its losses towards the end, ending the day with mixed results.

Based on the yen depreciation, the Tokyo market started trading with a buying preference. Semiconductor stocks have been rising since the opening, with the Nikkei breaking through the 75-day moving average line after the opening. Due to the temporary depreciation of the yen to 145 yen per dollar, there was an acceleration in yen depreciation and dollar appreciation, leading funds to move towards large-cap stocks such as export-related stocks, resulting in the Nikkei closing significantly higher by over 1000 yen.

The Nikkei at the closing bell closed 1055.37 yen higher (+2.79%) at 38925.63 yen compared to the previous day. The trading volume on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market was 2,085.31 million shares, with a total trading value of 5,237.7 billion yen. Among all sectors rising, other products, metal products, electric appliances, machinery, glass and stone products saw prominent increases. The Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market had 96.0% of stocks rising, while 3.4% were declining.

The top contributor to the increase was Toshiba Tec Corporation<8035>, which pushed the Nikkei average up by about 187 yen with one stock.
