United States Steel (X.US) said on Wednesday that the arbitration panel has made a favorable ruling on the acquisition of a Japanese steel company, but the United States Steelworkers Union disagrees with the decision.
The committee, jointly selected by the company and the union to resolve disputes, ruled that the United States Steel Company meets every requirement in their basic labor agreement with the union.
The union stated that the arbitrator seemingly accepted the statement from Japan Steel, that they will abide by the 'Basic Labor Agreement', emphasizing that the decision does not change their opposition to the trade. (sw/m)
