According to data company Adobe Analytics' forecast released on Wednesday, September 25th, American shoppers in the final quarter of this year are expected to spend a record 18.5 billion US dollars on holiday commodities using third-party "buy now, pay later" services. Due to many Americans recently carrying more debt, spending on "buy now, pay later" is expected to increase by 11.4% compared to the holiday season a year ago. "Buy now, pay later" allows shoppers to expand their purchasing power through monthly installment payments (up to 36 months); however, the most common payment method is in 4 installments. According to Adobe Analytics' data, spending using the "buy now, pay later" method is expected to increase significantly, exceeding the expected overall 8.4% increase in holiday shopping period expenditure; the latter could reach around 240.8 billion US dollars. The forecast period is from November 1st to December 31st.
