According to the Wisdom Financial APP, American monkeypox vaccine concept stock emergent biosolutions (EBS.US) surged more than 16% in pre-market trading on Wednesday. The company had earlier announced that it had received approximately $0.4 billion in orders for smallpox, anthrax, and monkeypox vaccine products, to be delivered in 2024 and 2025. As of the time of publication, the stock rose more than 8% at the opening.

The biotechnology company stated that up to this year, the company has delivered customer orders worth nearly $0.21 billion, involving its immunoglobulin products CNJ-016 and ACAM2000, the latter being its FDA-approved smallpox and monkeypox vaccine.

In addition, the company has committed to delivering over $0.185 billion worth of CNJ-016 and ACAM2000 related orders for the remaining time of this year and in 2025.

At the time of this latest announcement, Africa is striving to deal with an ongoing monkeypox epidemic, with the World Health Organization declaring in August of this year that the monkeypox epidemic constitutes an "international concern of public health emergency".

CEO Joe Papa stated: "Emergent remains a trusted partner to provide medical countermeasures for biodefense and global health preparedness."

He added: "These incremental orders demonstrate our continued leadership in helping address serious viral threats like smallpox and monkeypox."
