TechFinancials app learned that according to data released by Canalys, in the second quarter of 2024, the shipment volume of PCs (excluding tablets) in the usa increased by 4% year-on-year, reaching 18.9 million units. The demand for laptops is particularly strong, with an annual shipment growth rate of over 5%. Following the stable development in the first half of 2024, the PC market will accelerate. It is expected that the total shipment volume of PCs in the usa will increase by 6% in 2024, approaching 70 million units, and another 6% increase in 2025 to reach 74 million units.

Analyst Greg Davis of Canalys stated, "Commercial demand will be strongest before the official end of Windows 10 support, and there are already signs of a positive rebound."

With the increase in IT spending, updates for large enterprise PCs are progressing smoothly, with a 12% growth in shipment volume in the second quarter of 2024. Although growth in the consumer market and small and medium-sized enterprises is smaller, these two segments still achieved 3% and 6% growth respectively this quarter.

Canalys predicts that the usa PC market will continue to be strong in 2024 and 2025, with a growth rate of 6%.

"Davis continued: 'In the first half of 2024, the USA's macroeconomic stability has promoted businesses to increase spending in the second quarter. Looking ahead, the Fed's interest rate cut in the third quarter will support businesses in increasing spending in the future. In the second half of 2024, due to significant discounts and promotional activities during the holiday season, the consumer market may also see growth.

The USA will be at the forefront in the adoption of AI in PCs, which will bring more momentum for PC updates. Starting from the second half of 2024, processor manufacturers and OEMs' developments will increase the availability of AI PCs in more product categories and price points.
