The Dow hit a new high shortly after Monday's opening, reaching 42,190 points, ultimately closing 61 points or 0.2% higher at 42,124 points, setting a new closing high. The S&P 500 index closed 16 points or 0.3% higher at 5,718 points, also setting a new closing high; the Nasdaq closed 25 points or 0.1% higher at 17,974 points.
This week, Micron (MU.US) is expected to close approximately 3% higher; Intel (INTC.US) received a proposal from asset management company Apollo Global Management for a potential $5 billion equity investment, leading to a 3.3% increase in its stock price, making it the second best-performing stock in the Nasdaq 100. Other chip stocks are on the rise, with Arm (ARM.US) and ASML (ASML.US) up 1% to 2%. Nvidia (NVDA.US) rose 0.2%.
Tesla (TSLA.US) surged by 5% throughout the day, being the best performer among Nasdaq 100 stocks. Meta (META.US) also hit a new high, although its gains narrowed to 0.6% later.
