Sea teamed up with four Thai companies to apply for a local digital banks license.

On September 23, Gelonghui reported that Singapore internet company Sea and four Thai companies formed a consortium to jointly apply for a digital banking license in Thailand. The four companies are listed company BTS Group Holdings, Bangkok Bank, commodity manufacturer Saha Group, and Thailand Post. Sea stated that it will leverage the complementary advantages of the four companies to provide innovative and eye-catching digital financial services in Thailand, with a focus on assisting groups who do not have access to adequate banking services, improving their access to financial services. Sea also revealed that each company plans to invest in the proposed digital bank through appropriate subsidiaries. Thailand opened applications for digital banking licenses in March this year.
