The clear settlement price of Chicago Nikkei 225 futures was 37,975 yen, 445 yen higher than Osaka day session.

Meanwhile, long-term interest rates stabilized and the tech sector remained weak throughout the day, resulting in a mixed close.

In the foreign exchange market in New York on the 20th, the dollar-yen rate fell to 143.50 yen, then rose to 144.49 yen, and closed at 143.91 yen. After a dominant dollar buying due to expectations of rising interest rates with improved economic prospects, Federal Reserve Governor Waller revealed the Federal Open Market Committee's (FOMC) view that there is room for a rate cut over the next 12 months and that there is the possibility of another 0.5% rate cut if the labor market deteriorates, causing the dollar to struggle. The yen continued to be weak due to a decline in expectations of additional rate hikes in Japan. The euro-dollar rate rose to 1.1177 dollars, then fell to 1.1136 dollars, and closed at 1.1162 dollars.

On the 20th, NY crude oil futures for October fell reluctantly (NYMEX crude oil October futures closing price: $71.92, down $0.03).
