GICS <9219> announced on the 18th that their AI engine has been adopted for the tourist-type MaaS "Nishi Nihon Ryoko Koryaku Tabiwa" targeting Chinese tourists visiting Japan, which is being trialed by Nishi-Nihon Railroad <9021> (hereinafter referred to as JR West Japan).
The service is called "Nishi Nihon Ryoko Koryaku (Nishinihon Ryoyu Koryaku) Tabiwa", and the service is scheduled to start in late October 2024. The service provides an "AI function" that is useful for travel planning as a mini program within "WeChat", which is commonly used by Chinese people, and a "coupon function" that offers benefits at facilities owned by the JR West Japan Group.
The company and JR West Japan formed a capital business alliance in 2018, and since 2021, JR West Japan has introduced the company's commercial facility and tourism campaign platform "MaiGuru" into the mobile lifestyle navigation app "WESTER", and from 2024, into the tourism navigation "Tabiwa by WESTER". The company's contribution to increasing membership through continuous initiatives utilizing this service has been recognized, leading to the current technical cooperation with "Nishi Nihon Ryoko Koryaku Tabiwa".
