Nintendo has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against the developer Pocketpair of the popular game "Palworld", seeking an injunction and compensation. Pocketpair, headquartered in Tokyo, released "Palworld" in January of this year, and the monster characters in the game have similarities to Nintendo's Pokemon and player experience elements.
Nintendo has not specified which patents "Palworld" infringes on. Hideki Yasuda, an analyst at Oriental Securities, stated that Nintendo has filed the lawsuit based on patent infringement rather than copyright infringement, indicating that the company has given up on proving the similarities between the characters in "Palworld" and Pokemon. At the same time, the company owns many patents related to basic game mechanics, showing that Nintendo has more ways to stop "Palworld".
