Bursa Malaysia managed to reduce its losses by the end of trading on Wednesday (18 September), but the overall market sentiment remained subdued as many traders stayed on the sidelines in anticipation of a US interest rate cut later in the evening.
By 5pm, the FBM KLCI had fallen by 3.69 points, or 0.22%, ending at 1,660.59 compared to Tuesday's (17 September) closing level of 1,664.28.
The benchmark index opened slightly higher at 1,664.33 and fluctuated between 1,654.0 and 1,664.78 throughout the day.
In the broader market, decliners outnumbered gainers, with 526 stocks falling versus 442 advancing. Additionally, 489 stocks remained unchanged, 1,048 were untraded, and nine were suspended.
