The trading of securities and derivative products in the securities and futures market under severe weather conditions will be implemented starting from September 23rd. The Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau Secretary, Christopher Hui, said he is delighted to see that the Hong Kong market is able to implement this important reform in adverse weather trading, which is the result of the concerted efforts and perseverance of market participants and stakeholders.

He continued to point out that implementing this reform will align the Hong Kong market with international standards and practices. Hong Kong, as an international financial center, continues to reform and optimize different trading mechanisms to enhance its role in connecting mainland China and overseas capital.

After completing the testing and market rehearsal phases, participants who account for over 99.9% of the securities market share, as well as all participants in the derivative products market, have submitted declarations to the exchange, indicating that they are fully prepared to operate on adverse weather days starting from the 23rd of this month.
