Just two months after the last assassination attempt, Donald Trump, the former president of the United States and Republican presidential candidate, was once again attacked.

According to official confirmation, Trump himself is safe and sound. Currently, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is investigating this suspected assassination attempt against Trump.

Assassination details exposed

On Sunday, Trump was once again shot at a golf course in Florida. Fortunately, he was not injured.

Trump's spokesperson, Steven Zhang, said on Sunday afternoon that President Trump was safe after being shot nearby. But he did not disclose any further details.

Later, Trump also reassured in a statement. He said, "There was a shooting incident near me, but before the rumors started to get out of control, I wanted you to hear this first: I am safe and well!"

"Nothing can slow me down, I will never surrender!" he added.

According to reports, the golf club where the incident occurred is about 5 miles (approximately 6 kilometers) from Trump's winter resort, Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Beach. When Trump is free, he is often seen playing golf there.

It is reported that while Trump was playing golf, Secret Service agents spotted a man hiding in the bushes a few hundred yards away, holding an AK-47-style rifle. The agents subsequently fired shots, forcing the man to flee.

In the end, a suspect was arrested, and the police found a rifle, a scope, and a Go Pro camera.

Palm Beach County Sheriff Rick Bradshaw said the suspect remained calm when apprehended by the police after fleeing the scene.

Max Eguchi, a witness near Palm Beach, described the scene. He said, "From what I saw, five unmarked black SUVs blocked a gray Mercedes in front of the golf course. There were about 20 or more police cars rushing from the nearby streets."

The Federal Bureau of Investigation described the incident as 'apparently an assassination attempt on the former president.' Law enforcement officials stated that the suspect had a scope on the AK47 rifle, as well as a Go Pro camera, indicating his intention to record it.

According to foreign media reports, the arrested suspect is named Ryan Wesley Laus. However, the authorities have not yet publicly confirmed the suspect's identity.

Trump's running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance, commented on this. In a statement, he said, 'I am relieved that President Trump is unharmed. Before the news was made public, I spoke to him and surprisingly, his mental state is good. There are still many things we don't know, but tonight I will hug my children tightly and pray with gratitude.'

In addition, US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were also informed of the incident. The White House said in a statement, 'Upon learning that Trump is safe, they breathed a sigh of relief. Their team will regularly update them on the latest developments.'

Harris posted on X platform: 'I have heard reports about the shooting incident near former President Trump and his property in Florida, and I am glad he is unharmed. Violence has no place in America.'

Just two months ago, Trump was involved in a shooting at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Bullets grazed his ear. In addition, one audience member died in the shooting incident, while two others were injured.

Multiple pieces of evidence indicate that the gunman was a 20-year-old named Thomas Matthew Crukshank. He fired several shots from a building rooftop about 140 meters away from Trump's podium, and was subsequently shot dead on the spot by a US Secret Service sniper.

According to reports, the former president's security personnel failed to instruct local police to protect the building roof used by the gun holder.

Internal investigations have found that, unlike the current president and vice president, the U.S. Secret Service uses a separate command center from local police to protect non-incumbent politicians.

However, at that time, Trump's security personnel were unable to communicate with the surrounding local police.

Therefore, even though there was a reminder to local police to be aware of a man 'crawling' on the roof, it was not conveyed to the Secret Service.

Director of the Secret Service, Kimberly Chertel, resigned from her position a few days after the shooting, stating that the roof slope was too steep for agents to control.
