The National Bureau of Statistics announced that the production of electricity in the upper-scale industrial sector accelerated in August. The electricity generation in the upper-scale industrial sector in August was 907.4 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 5.8% compared to the previous year, and the growth rate increased by 3.3 percentage points compared to July. The daily average electricity generation in the upper-scale industrial sector was 29.27 billion kilowatt-hours. From January to August, the electricity generation in the upper-scale industrial sector was 6237.9 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 5.1% compared to the previous year.
In terms of different types, in August, the electricity generation in the upper-scale industrial sector increased in coal-fired power, the growth rate of hydroelectric power decreased, and the growth rates of nuclear power, wind power, and solar power accelerated. Among them, the electricity generation in the upper-scale industrial coal-fired power increased by 3.7% compared to the previous year, while it decreased by 4.9% in July; the hydroelectric power in the upper-scale industrial sector increased by 10.7%, a decrease of 25.5 percentage points compared to July; the nuclear power in the upper-scale industrial sector increased by 4.9%, an increase of 0.6 percentage points compared to July; the wind power in the upper-scale industrial sector increased by 6.6%, an increase of 5.7 percentage points compared to July; and solar power in the upper-scale industrial sector increased by 21.7%, an increase of 5.3 percentage points compared to July.
