Social media company Meta (META.US) announced on Friday that it will soon start using public posts made by adults in the United Kingdom on its social platforms, including comments, public photos, and headlines, to train its artificial intelligence models.
Meta stated that it will not use user's private information about friends and family to train its artificial intelligence, nor will it use information from accounts of users under 18 years old in the United Kingdom.
After actively discussing with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the data protection regulatory agency in the United Kingdom, Meta stated that it will initiate this process in the coming months, and the approval will help Meta introduce its artificial intelligence products into the United Kingdom more quickly.
Due to previous concerns from regulatory agencies, Meta's AI tools have not been launched in the United Kingdom or the European Union. However, Meta stated that the regulatory agencies have now given the green light to this plan.
