Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "the Company") will exhibit at the 22nd SMART ENERGY WEEK [Autumn] 2024 - CCUS WORLD Exhibition, which will be held from October 2nd to October 4th this year.
Based on the "K" LINE Environmental Vision 2050 - Connecting the Blue Ocean to Tomorrow (Note 1), the Company is working on new business areas that contribute to decarbonization support by leveraging the abundant experience and know-how cultivated in the maritime shipping business. In the field of CCS, the Company is participating in the world's first full-scale CO2 capture and storage value chain project, the Northern Lights project (Note 2), and plans to start liquefied CO2 transport for CCS this year. In addition, the Company is the only overseas shipping company that is participating in the CO2 overseas storage project selected by the Independent Administrative Institution, Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC), as the 6th year of Reiwa "Advanced CCS Project (Note 3)", advancing discussions on the CCS project to inject and store CO2 emitted in Japan off the coast of Malaysia.
At the CCUS WORLD Exhibition, the Company plans to introduce its specific initiatives in the CCS field through panels, videos, and holograms of liquefied CO2 transport ships. In addition, a lecture on "Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha's initiatives in the CCS field" is scheduled to take place at the CCUS/Hydrogen Energy Utilization Seminar venue in Hall 8 on Wednesday, October 2nd at 13:30.

In the fiscal year 2023, nine projects were selected.
