① After the penetration rate surpassed 50% in July, the NEV market penetration rate increased again in August, achieving steady “step by step” development; ② In August, BYD's sales not only broke its monthly sales record, but its year-on-year increase also set the highest year-on-year record; ③ Chery Auto and Cyrus Auto's retail sales in August increased by 251.5% and 912.3%, respectively.

Financial Services Association, September 11 (Editor Shen Chao) Although August is generally regarded as a low season for automobile sales, the NEV market continued to show vigorous vitality with the support of the “oil and electricity reversal,” making the August car market “not weak.” At the same time, competition in the NEV industry is becoming increasingly heated, and major automobile manufacturers are fiercely competing for the market.

Looking at the overall market, according to data from the Passenger Federation, retail sales in the domestic narrow sense of the word reached 1.907 million units in August. Among them, NEV passenger vehicles sold 1.025 million units, up 42.9% year on year, 16.7% month-on-month, and retail penetration rate was 53.75%. Following the penetration rate of over 50% in July, the NEV market penetration rate increased again in August, achieving steady “step by step” development.

In terms of specific brands, there was no change in the August TOP10 list compared to July, and the ranking of some car companies in the list was adjusted.

BYD continues to maintain its absolute leading position in the rankings. In August, retail sales reached 0.3796 million vehicles, up 57.1% year on year and 21.7% month on month. In August, BYD's retail sales not only broke its monthly sales record, but the monthly year-on-year increase also set the highest record this year, showing that BYD is developing rapidly. The cumulative retail sales volume for the first eight months of this year was 2.0799 million vehicles, up 27.8% year on year, and the market share reached 34.6%.

The ranking of the 2 to 6 car companies on the list changed compared to July. Geely still ranked second on the list. This is also the 5th month in a row since April this year that it has occupied this position. Geely's retail sales data for August was 0.0741 million vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 66.0% and a month-on-month increase of 29.5%.

Ideal Auto once again won the top sales of new car builders. In August, retail sales were 0.0481 million units, up 37.8% year on year. Ideal Auto ranked 3rd on the list in July, but due to a month-on-month decline in sales in August, it fell to 6th place on the list this month.

Chery and Cyrus both achieved explosive year-on-year growth in August, with monthly retail sales increasing by 251.5% and 912.3%, respectively. In the first eight months of this year, Cyrus delivered a total of 0.2536 million vehicles, an increase of 659.4% over 0.0334 million vehicles in the same period last year.

Furthermore, GAC Aian's retail sales in August were 32,838 vehicles, down 32.08% year on year, making it the only car company on the list with a clear year-on-year decline in retail sales.
