Shareholders in Advantage Solutions (NASDAQ:ADV) Have Lost 66%, as Stock Drops 9.4% This Past Week

Simply Wall St ·  Sep 10 19:41

While it may not be enough for some shareholders, we think it is good to see the Advantage Solutions Inc. (NASDAQ:ADV) share price up 11% in a single quarter. But that can't change the reality that over the longer term (five years), the returns have been really quite dismal. Indeed, the share price is down 66% in the period. So we're hesitant to put much weight behind the short term increase. However, in the best case scenario (far from fait accompli), this improved performance might be sustained.

After losing 9.4% this past week, it's worth investigating the company's fundamentals to see what we can infer from past performance.

Given that Advantage Solutions didn't make a profit in the last twelve months, we'll focus on revenue growth to form a quick view of its business development. Generally speaking, companies without profits are expected to grow revenue every year, and at a good clip. That's because it's hard to be confident a company will be sustainable if revenue growth is negligible, and it never makes a profit.

NasdaqGS:ADV Earnings and Revenue Growth September 10th 2024

It's good to see that there was some significant insider buying in the last three months. That's a positive. That said, we think earnings and revenue growth trends are even more important factors to consider. So we recommend checking out this free report showing consensus forecasts

A Different Perspective

Advantage Solutions shareholders gained a total return of 16% during the year. But that return falls short of the market. But at least that's still a gain! Over five years the TSR has been a reduction of 11% per year, over five years. It could well be that the business is stabilizing. It's always interesting to track share price performance over the longer term. But to understand Advantage Solutions better, we need to consider many other factors. Consider risks, for instance. Every company has them, and we've spotted 1 warning sign for Advantage Solutions you should know about.
