According to the Zhitong Financial APP, HKEX will implement a new arrangement for "suspension of trading in adverse weather" from September 23rd. HKEX announced that as of September 10th, four small and medium-sized market participants are not fully prepared for adverse weather conditions, including Wanguang Securities, Huanyi Securities, Sunshine Capital Securities, and Sun Securities. As of August 28th, 15 exchange participants and settlement participants indicated that they will need support measures from the Hong Kong Exchange. Relevant brokerages are exempt from complying with certain regulations and responsibilities, but must also adhere to related trading restrictions.

HKEX stated that after completing the testing and market exercise stage, participants holding over 99.9% of the securities market share and all derivatives market participants have submitted applications to the HKEX, indicating that they are fully prepared to maintain operations on adverse weather days after September 23rd. The proportion of those unprepared is less than 0.1%.

After the implementation of adverse weather trading, all exchange participants and settlement participants are required to continue their normal business operations on adverse weather trading days, such as fulfilling settlement responsibilities and regulatory filings.

HKEX further stated that to ensure personal safety, participants should adopt remote working arrangements and provide online services on adverse weather trading days. Physical business premises should also not provide services to the public. HKEX will adjust market operational arrangements slightly to ensure that the market can continue to operate smoothly and orderly without physical business premises.
