As of the closing on the 9th, the number of rising stocks among the constituents of the Nikkei average was 16, the number of falling stocks was 207, and the number of unchanged stocks was 2.

The Nikkei average fell sharply. It closed the morning session at 35,613.32 yen, down 778.15 yen (with an estimated volume of 0.946 million shares). In the US market on the 6th of last week, the Dow average closed at 40,345.41 dollars, down 410.34 dollars, and the Nasdaq closed at 16,690.83, down 436.83 points. The result of the August employment statistics was mixed, leading to a slight increase in the market, but concerns about the slowdown in the labor market and the economy spread due to downward revisions in the number of employers for the past two months, causing the market to decline. The Nasdaq also fell due to the impact of semiconductor stocks such as Nvidia (NVDA). Federal Reserve Board (FRB) Governor Warler mentioned the need for policy adjustments following the employment statistics and expressed support for a significant rate cut, which increased caution and led to a further increase in the decline in the closing stages. Following the decline in US stocks at the end of last week, the Nikkei average started with selling today. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Stock Index (SOX), which consists of major semiconductor-related stocks in the United States, fell 4.51% compared to the previous day, leading to a decline in domestic semiconductor-related stocks. After the opening, the decline widened and the psychological level of 36,000 yen was breached, and it remained at around 500,000 yen for about a month during trading hours. Concerns about an economic downturn in the United States are worsening investor sentiment in Japan, and the appreciation of the yen is also weighing on the market.

The top contributors to the decline were TEC<8035> in the East and First Retail<9983> in second place, which pushed down the Nikkei average by about 235 yen with two stocks. The top decliner among the constituents of the Nikkei average was Laser Tech<6920>, down 7.57%, with Renesas<6723> in second place, down 6.68%.

On the other hand, the top contributors to the increase were Konami G<9766> in first place and 7 & iHD<3382> in second place, which pushed up the Nikkei average by about 14 yen with two stocks. The top gainer among the constituents of the Nikkei average was Mercari<4385>, up 2.86%, with 7 & iHD in second place, up 2.62%.
