After careful consideration of various factors, the government has decided not to grant quotas for the fifth round of construction industry labor importation plan, which will be launched in July. The Hong Kong Construction Industry Federation welcomes the government's suspension of the importation of foreign labor in the construction industry, believing that the authorities have responded positively to the demands of the union and prioritized the employment of local workers.

The Federation hopes that the government will strengthen vocational training efforts and promote the concept of "one expertise, multiple skills", so that workers can acquire multiple technical skills and have more job opportunities. The Federation suggests that the government launch multiple intermediate and advanced vocational training course subsidy programs to attract more young people to enter the industry and build up a talent reserve for the long-term transformation of the construction industry.

The Federation points out that in response to the shortage of manpower in the construction industry and the insufficient employment of certain trades, the SAR government should allocate more resources to do a good job in career matching and recruitment promotion, so that workers and individuals who are interested in joining the construction industry can promptly receive more recruitment information, thereby solving the problem of "difficulty for workers to find jobs and difficulty for employers to find workers".
