Polarizing plate art project won the “18th Kids Design Award”
~Joint application with Onomichi City University, Onomichi City Museum of Art, and Onomichi City Board of Education~

We are pleased to announce that Nitto Denko Corporation (Headquarters: Osaka-shi; President: Hideo Takasaki; hereafter, Nitto) has received the “18th Kids Design Award” in the “Design category that opens up children's creativity and future.”
The Kids Design Award is an award system hosted by the Kids Design Council, and it honors outstanding works that address social issues related to children and child-rearing from products, services, spaces, activities, and research that satisfy the goals of “children live safely and with peace of mind,” “children grow up rich in sensitivity and creativity,” and “create a society where it is easy to give birth and raise children.”

The “Polarizer Art Project,” which received this award, started in 2020 with the desire to contribute to children's education and regional revitalization. It is a collaborative effort between Onomichi City and various educational institutions to utilize polarizing plates, which are essential for display devices produced at the Onomichi Plant, as materials for art, and aim to create opportunities for a wide range of people, from preschoolers to university students, to improve their interest in science and creativity.

Specific Initiatives

(1) The works of Onomichi City University students (left below) were scaled up and exhibited at the Onomichi City Museum of Art

By turning the rudder, the gears rotate, and the pattern and color change. Designs inspired by Onomichi City (Seto Inland Sea), such as the sea and Kitamaebune, were applied.
