Falling down is one of the important health threats faced by the elderly in our country. According to a report from the World Health Organization, more than 300,000 people die from falls worldwide each year, with people over the age of 60 accounting for more than half. In our country, falls rank fourth among accidental causes of death, and among people over 65, they are the leading cause, often referred to as the "last fall" in life.

In order to continuously promote people's attention and importance to "fall prevention in the elderly" and help the elderly live better, recently, Ke Holdings Charity has released the documentary "Life Without Falling", aiming to make more people aware of the importance of fall prevention in the elderly and take action.

In the documentary, Sun Xiaohong, the head of the Department of Geriatrics at Peking University People's Hospital, said, "The heads of the elderly are generally in a shriveled state, so even if the elderly fall, even if their heads are only slightly bumped, there may be some fatal injuries. We want to tell more elderly people that falling can be prevented in advance. If we put prevention ahead, we can reduce the occurrence of such injuries."

As early as the Double Ninth Festival on October 23, 2023, in order to better care for the elderly in the community, Ke Holdings Charity officially launched the "Let me teach you fall prevention" public health project. The project was jointly initiated by the Beijing Ke Holdings Charity Foundation and the Beijing Bethune Charity Foundation, and has received professional support from the Department of Geriatrics at Peking University People's Hospital. The "Elderly Fall Prevention Handbook" has been developed and educational videos have been recorded. At the same time, relying on community outreach through stores, Ke Holdings Charity has opened various popular and easy-to-understand "Fall Prevention" health education classes for the community elderly, organized community "Fall Prevention" advocacy activities, and improved the awareness and ability of the elderly and their caregivers to prevent falls.

As of the end of August 2024, the "Let me teach you fall prevention" classes have been conducted in 290 sessions in 9 cities nationwide, helping 0.0243 million elderly people to understand the knowledge related to "fall prevention", raise awareness and ability to prevent falls, and effectively avoid hidden dangers of falls, enjoying a healthy retirement life.

According to the survey data from the National Health Commission, the current retirement pattern in China is characterized by "9073" (about 90% of the elderly are living at home, about 7% are supported by community services, and the remaining 3% are in institutional care); Currently, more than 0.267 billion elderly people in our country are living in retirement. Zhang Jianlong, the official of Ke Holdings' public welfare project in Taiyuan, introduced, "The first goal of the project is to help the elderly solve some problems with the greatest effort; the second is to make it known to everyone and raise the attention of the elderly."

Nowadays, more and more elderly people are learning how to prevent falls and enjoy life better through Ke Holdings' public welfare classes. As Zhang Jingli, a grid member of the Twelve Hospitals City Community in Taiyuan City, said, "(Ke Holdings' public welfare project) has given the elderly a new hope in life. Besides watching grandchildren, sitting around, and strolling in the park, they can also come to learn things, be with many other elderly people, and have laughter and joy. I think this is what their old age should look like."

Han Chunlan, 64 years old, from the Twelve Hospitals City Community in Taiyuan City, shared in the documentary, "Because I have experienced a fall, when they said there was a fall prevention class, I came with the support of my arms to attend the class. After listening, I pay more attention to everything I do."

Leveraging the resources and advantages of the store, caring for the elderly has become a major brand gene of Ke Holdings' public welfare. In 2018, it was observed that the demand for smart terminal products among the elderly was increasing. Ke Holdings' public welfare combined with its own community service advantages to launch the "Let me teach you how to use a mobile phone" project. As of the end of June 2024, the mobile phone project has entered 60 cities across the country, organized and conducted 16,012 public education classes, held over 0.06 million mobile phone classes, and served more than 0.8 million elderly people.

From "Let me teach you how to use a mobile phone" to "Let me teach you how to prevent falls," Ke Holdings' public welfare is creating value for the community and the elderly through a series of community public welfare projects, helping to build an elderly-friendly society.
