According to the Wise Finance APP, the US healthcare technology company Clover Health Investments (CLOV.US) surged 22% in post-market trading on Tuesday, as its subsidiary Counterpart Health has signed a multi-year agreement with the healthcare provider group The Iowa Clinic.
Counterpart stated that the deal will make The Iowa Clinic one of its major clients in the Midwest, as part of its broader strategy to expand nationwide.
Under the agreement, clinical physicians serving medical insurance advantage and medical insurance shared savings plan patients at The Iowa Clinic will have access to Counterpart's AI-based cloud software platform, Counterpart Assistant.
Counterpart Assistant, based on technology initially developed by Clover Health, is an AI-supported solution designed to seamlessly integrate into the workflow of physicians, supporting early diagnosis and management of chronic diseases. It is currently used by over 1,000 physicians as part of their daily workflow to enhance patient care. By leveraging real-time insights from over 100 data sources and over 100 machine learning models, providers using Counterpart Assistant can identify, diagnose, and treat some of the most costly chronic illnesses at an earlier stage.
According to a statement, in return, Counterpart will receive a fee per member per month, as well as potential incentives based on achieving certain care management goals.
It is understood that The Iowa Clinic is an independent, physician-owned multi-specialty group with a significant business presence in the healthcare sector, housing over 250 physicians and healthcare providers in over 40 specialties.
It is primarily located in West Des Moines, with eight additional locations throughout the Des Moines metropolitan area, and several outreach clinics in rural areas. The organization serves approximately 1.1 million patients annually, with around 0.45 million patient visits per year.
Counterpart Health is a leading artificial intelligence doctor support platform. The flagship software platform of Counterpart Health, Counterpart Assistant, was incubated by Clover Health as Clover Assistant and helps improve the plan performance and clinical outcomes of medical insurance members through proprietary artificial intelligence technology.
