CLP Power (02638.HK) has indicated that a series of contingency measures have been initiated, including deploying additional personnel when necessary to address the possible impact on electrical utilities supply during the typhoon.

As Typhoon Makjo gradually approaches Hong Kong, CLP Power has stated that drawing from previous experiences in dealing with adverse weather and typhoons, they have updated their contingency plans and established more detailed guidelines, focusing on three aspects: power generation system, transmission and distribution system, and providing emergency support to customers. They have initiated contingency measures to ensure normal electrical utilities supply for over 0.59 million customers on Hong Kong Island and Lamma Island during the typhoon period.

In terms of the power generation system, CLP Power will activate additional generator sets to quickly increase the system's output capacity when needed to cope with sudden changes in demand for electricity generation. Once the Observatory hoists the No. 3 Strong Wind Signal, additional personnel will be deployed at the Lamma Power Station to stay on-site for operation and maintenance work, mitigating the impact of halted maritime transportation.
