On the news front, Smartone Tele released its annual results for the year ended June 30, 2024, with revenue of HK$6.221 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 8%; attributable profit to shareholders of HK$0.47 billion, a year-on-year increase of 74.87%; earnings per share of 42.6 HK cents, proposing a final dividend payment of 17.5 HK cents per share. The number of customers increased to 2.71 million; 5G service customer penetration rate is close to 40%.
It is reported that the core 5G monthly fee plan customers of the company continued to increase during the year, with ARPU still at a high level. The penetration rate of 5G service customers has increased to about 40%, and the APRU of 5G service has reached twice that of 4G service.
The company's CEO, Liu Ruohong, revealed that as of the end of June this year, overseas roaming revenue in the consumer market has recovered to more than 1.4 times the pre-epidemic level, with annual roaming revenue growing by 44% to HK$0.613 billion. Liu Ruohong further pointed out that by providing customers with free roaming dedicated lines, enhancing roaming service coverage and quality at popular tourist destinations, the penetration rate of Smartone Tele customers using roaming services during the period has doubled to nearly twice the pre-epidemic level. With the company introducing more cost-effective roaming product combinations, it is believed that there is still significant growth potential in the roaming business in the future.
