The AI performance of Lunar Lake will be more than three times that of Meteor Lake, capable of executing over 40 TOPS of neural processing unit operations per second. It is expected to deliver over 40 million Core i7 Ultra processors this year. Most AI PCs currently use Qualcomm Snapdragon X chips, but with the launch of Intel's new products, it may drive a new round of upgrades.

On September 4, the next-generation Core i7 Ultra 200V Lunar Lake processors from Intel will be officially launched, targeting AI PCs. It will support more than 80 new notebook designs from over 20 OEMs, and these computers will add new Copilot+ features through software updates in the future.

According to Intel, the AI performance of Lunar Lake will be more than three times that of Meteor Lake processors, with over 40 TOPS of neural processing unit operations per second and over 60 TOPS of GPU computing power. Intel expects to deliver over 40 million Core i7 Ultra processors this year.

Pavan Davuluri, Vice President of Windows and Devices at Microsoft, said: 'We are looking forward to the launch of Lunar Lake, which will have a 40+ TOPS NPU that will provide the Microsoft Copilot+ experience for the masses.'

It is worth mentioning that there were reports in August that MediaTek and NVIDIA will jointly release their first AI PC chip in the first half of next year.

Since the beginning of this year, leading PC manufacturers such as Lenovo, HP, Dell, Apple, Acer, Asus, Samsung, Honor, Huawei, etc. have already released or planned to launch new AI PC products.

For example, on April 18, Lenovo launched the AIPC Yuanqi series, which comes with hundreds of third-party AI applications. It also released two AIPC models overseas, both equipped with AINPU (45 TOPS).

On May 20, Microsoft released the Copilot version of the Windows 11 system, as well as the new AIPC Surface Pro. On the same day, Dell launched five AIPC models, featuring one-click Copilot service activation.

On July 30th, HP released the AIPC All-Scenario AI Solution.

Currently, most AI PCs are equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon X chip. With the official launch of Intel's new products, there may be a new wave of AI PC launches.

Data released by research institution Canalys shows that in the second quarter of this year, the shipment of AI PCs reached 8.8 million units, accounting for 14% of all PC shipments in the quarter. In the Windows domain, the shipment of AI PCs increased by 127% compared to the previous period, with Lenovo's AI PC shipments increasing even higher by 228%.

Canalys pointed out that all major processor suppliers are successfully advancing their AI PCs. By the second half of 2024 and beyond, the availability and user adoption of devices will increase significantly. It is estimated that the AI PC industry will ship approximately 44 million units in 2024 and 1.03 billion units in 2025.

Guoyuan Securities stated that product upgrades will lead to an increase in product prices. Compared to traditional PCs without integrated NPUs, AI PCs will have a premium of 10-15%. With the sharp increase in adoption rates, by the end of 2025, over half of the PCs priced at $800 and above will be AI PCs. By 2028, this proportion will increase to over 80%. Therefore, the shipment of PCs priced at $800 and above will grow to over half of the market in just four years, which will help drive the overall value of PC shipments from $225 billion in 2024 to over $270 billion in 2028.
