■Sustainability Initiatives

Since its establishment, Kurabo <3106> has practiced sustainable management and developed through the development of unique technology and the creation of innovation. The Group's business activities are based on the management philosophy “We, the Kurabo Group, will contribute to creating a better future society through the creation of new value,” and its goals also extend to the SDGs. Even in the current medium-term management plan “Progress '24,” the fields that the company group should contribute, such as goal 9 “let's build a foundation for industry and technological innovation,” target 11 “create a community where people can continue to live,” and goal 12 “responsibility to create and use,” set forth in the SDGs, have been clarified and specifically incorporated into the business plan.

2. Identifying Materiality

Materiality (important issues) was identified in order to enhance the sustainability of business activities and improve corporate value by effectively utilizing resources for the purpose of realizing the management philosophy. Specifically, we are working on various measures to achieve this, using 1) the realization of a safe, secure and comfortable society, 2) consideration for the regional environment and contribution to a recycling-oriented society, 3) promotion of the active participation of diverse human resources and respect for human rights, and 4) strengthening governance and CSR for sustainable growth as material issues.

3. Initiatives to address environmental issues

The company established the “Kurabo Environmental Charter” in 1998, and clarified basic environmental policies and action guidelines for employees to take. Also, with the formulation of a carbon neutrality road map in 2022, we are working on climate change countermeasures as an important issue. Specifically, in order to achieve 46% reduction in CO2 emissions in fiscal 2030 (compared to fiscal 2013), which is the government target, and carbon neutrality in fiscal 2050, the system for reducing CO2 emissions has been strengthened, and specific measures are being promoted, and progress is disclosed through securities reports, integrated reports, etc. In addition, support for the TCFD (Climate-related Financial Information Disclosure Task Force) recommendations was expressed, and information disclosure based on the recommendations also began. Furthermore, we are working to promote effective use of resources and recycling, and we are aiming for a recycling rate of 97% (target for the fiscal year ending 2025/3) through the promotion of zero waste emissions.
