According to the United Kingdom maritime institutions, two ships (an oil tanker flying the flag of Panama and a commercial ship) were attacked in the Red Sea near Yemen on Monday, with one oil tanker being hit by two shells.

The British maritime security company Ambrey stated that the military confirmed the oil tanker was attacked by missiles. Sources revealed that the oil tanker is named 'Blue Lagoon I'. Both incidents did not result in any casualties.

Ambrey and the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), affiliated with the British military, stated that the oil tanker attack occurred about 70 nautical miles northwest of the port of Salif in Yemen.

Sea Trade Marine SA, the Greek management company of the oil tanker Blue Lagoon I, has not yet commented on this.

Ambrey estimates that 'the ship became a target of the attack because the company is associated with a vessel docking at Israeli ports'.

Since November last year, Houthi militants have launched attacks on international ships near Yemen.

According to Ambrey and UKMTO reports, in the second incident, a drone hit a commercial ship about 50 nautical miles off the coast of Hodeidah, Yemen.

UKMTO stated that the ship is heading to its next port of call.
