Lui Shaohui, Deputy Minister of the Green and Low-carbon Department of the China Automotive Standardization Research Institute of the China Automotive Technology Research Center, introduced that under the guidance of the competent authorities, the national standards committee for electric vehicles initiated the pre-research work for the revision of GB38031 "Safety Requirements for Power Rechargeable Batteries for Electric Vehicles" in the second half of 2021, and finally formed a revised draft for soliciting opinions in May 2024. Recently, the draft revision of the standard has been improved according to industry feedback, and it is expected to be reviewed in September 2024 and submitted for approval in October. The plan for the revision of the safety requirements for power battery has further improved the requirements for thermal diffusion safety, and added bottom impact testing and safety testing after fast charging cycles.
