Approximately 10,000 hotel employees in the USA began a multi-day strike in several cities on Sunday (1st) due to failed contract negotiations with Marriott International, Hilton, and Hyatt Hotels.
Monday is Labor Day in the USA and Canada. Unite Here, representing hotel, casino, and airport employees in major tourist cities such as San Francisco, San Diego, Honolulu, and Boston, states that thousands of employees from 24 hotels are on strike, with workers from other cities expected to join.
The union stated that there is a shortage of hotel employees, and management often assigns three employees to do the work of four, resulting in excessive pressure on the employees. Hilton and Hyatt have stated that they are still committed to negotiating with the union and reaching a fair agreement.
