Leak Reveals Key Details About The PS5 Pro: What We Know So Far

Benzinga ·  Aug 30 02:50

New details about Sony Group Corp's (NYSE:SONY) anticipated PS5 Pro have surfaced.

What Happened: A leak from Dealabs and renowned PlayStation leaker billbil-kun reveals a sketch design closely resembling the PS5 Slim, featuring a white color scheme and two USB-C ports along with a power button.

A notable distinction is the addition of three black stripes in the middle of the outer layer, which are not present on the base models. The PS5 Pro also appears slightly thicker than its predecessor.

Interestingly, the PS5 Pro version shown lacks a disc drive, raising questions about whether Sony plans to release a disc-drive variant.

The absence of this feature might suggest a push towards digital media, though a final confirmation from Sony is yet to come. As of now, no pricing details have been disclosed, and the controller remains the base DualSense model.

Specifications And Performance

Earlier leaks have hinted at impressive upgrades for the PS5 Pro. Reports indicate that the console will feature a CPU with a "High CPU Frequency Mode." This could potentially boost performance by 10% to 3.85GHz.

The GPU is expected to deliver enhanced rendering and ray tracing capabilities. Specifications suggest a jump from 10.28 teraflops to around 16 to 17 teraflops.

Additionally, the PS5 Pro may introduce a new upscaling solution known as PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), alongside custom machine learning architecture and an AI accelerator.
