放送用ズームレンズ「FUJINON HZK14-100mm」(愛称「Duvo(デューボ) Portable」)新発売

New release of the broadcasting zoom lens "FUJINON HZK14-100mm" (known as "Duvo Portable").

Fujifilm Holdings ·  Aug 28 23:00

Reed's Inc (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Goto Yoshikazu) will release the first wide-angle zoom lens, the FUJINON HZK14-100mm (nickname: Duvo Portable), from the broadcast zoom lens "Duvo series" that combines cinema-like video expression and operability of broadcast lenses, from late September.
The FUJINON HZK14-100mm is a lens that adopts the dual format method compatible with two large sensors*. It covers from wide-angle 14mm to medium telephoto 100mm, and achieves a compact length of 266.9mm and weight of 2.54kg, making it the smallest and lightest in the Duvo series, demonstrating high mobility.

FUJINON HZK14-100mm (nickname: Duvo Portable)

Currently, in the broadcasting industry, the use of cameras equipped with large sensors adopted in the cinema industry is increasing in order to express immersive images that utilize bokeh and high dynamic range. The lenses used for such shooting are mainly cinema camera lenses compatible with large sensors, but they have limited zoom ratios compared to broadcast lenses because they are optimized for shooting purposes such as movies and commercials. In addition, there are different operations from broadcasting, such as the need for personnel specializing in focus operation.
Therefore, our company has adopted the dual format method that corresponds to two large sensors and developed the broadcast zoom lens "Duvo series" that combines cinema-like video expression and operability of broadcast lenses. In March last year, we released the box-type FUJINON HZK25-1000mm, and in March this year, we released the portable type standard zoom lens, FUJINON HZK24-300mm. By adding the new portable type wide-angle zoom lens, FUJINON HZK14-100mm, to the lineup, we will not only cover the wide-angle side, but also expand the range of usable focal lengths in the series from wide-angle 14 to telephoto 1000mm.
Wide-angle zoom lenses are often used in combination with steadicams*2 and cranes, and the compact and lightweight FUJINON HZK14-100mm with a total length of 266.9mm and weight of 2.54kg allows for a cinematic video expression that utilizes shallow depth of field in various genres, such as shooting that overlooks the entire stage of a music live performance or shooting that brings a sense of presence by approaching athletes in a sports venue.
In the future, we will continue to develop and provide high-performance broadcast lenses, cinema camera lenses, and accessories that leverage the advanced optical technology we have cultivated over the years, in order to meet the needs of the increasingly diverse video production field.

  • Super 35mm sensor and full-frame equivalent sensor.
  • Equipment to suppress blur during handheld shooting and capture stable images.

2. Main Features

(1) Achieves small size and light weight while covering a wide range of focal lengths

  • It combines a 7.1x zoom that covers from wide-angle 14mm to telephoto 100mm with a compact, lightweight design of 266.9mm in total length and 2.54kg, demonstrating high mobility.
  • By using the built-in expander *3 in the lens, it is possible to shift the focal length to telephoto side by 1.5 times, ranging from 21mm to 150mm. This allows you to capture the subject at the desired size, even from a distance.
  • It achieves a closest shooting distance of 0.6m (0.28m from the front element of the lens), allowing impressive close-up photography.
  • *3 A mechanism that expands the image circle (the circular area where light passing through the lens is focused) and extends the focal length to the telephoto side.

(2) Adopting the dual format system that supports two large sensors.

  • Normally compatible with the Super 35mm sensor. By using the built-in expander, it is possible to enlarge the size of the image circle by 1.5 times, making it possible to be used with cameras equipped with an even larger 35mm full-frame equivalent sensor than the Super 35mm sensor. *4
  • When combined with a camera equipped with a 35mm full-frame equivalent sensor, it enables shooting at an equivalent angle of view as the Super 35mm sensor while maximizing the excellent optical performance.
  • *4 When combined with a camera equipped with a Super 35mm sensor, it is possible to cover an image circle of 28.5mm throughout the zoom range. When combined with a camera equipped with a 35mm full-frame equivalent sensor, it is possible to cover an image circle of 41.3mm throughout the zoom range.

(3) Enables cinematic-like video expression that utilizes beautiful bokeh.

  • By adopting highly polished large-diameter aspherical lenses and super ED lenses, various aberrations are thoroughly suppressed. It exhibits optical performance equivalent to 8K. Furthermore, it achieves high-definition and natural depiction by suppressing ghosting, flare, and color bleeding.
  • While being a high-magnification lens compatible with large sensors, it achieves a brightness of T2.9 from a wide angle of 14mm to 75mm. It allows for flexibility in settings even in low-light environments such as indoor concerts.
  • By dividing the out-of-focus area into several layers and adjusting the quality of the blur, it is possible to achieve a natural melting of the blur from the focal plane to the background. This enables a cinematic expression that highlights the subject.

(4) Compatible with operation using various accessories.

  • Equipped with the same drive unit as a portable broadcast zoom lens. It can be operated in the same shooting style as a broadcast lens using zoom and focus demands.
  • Also compatible with multi-camera operations where multiple cameras are used for simultaneous shooting. Supports efficient video production.
  • By connecting to a wireless lens controller used in the production of movies and commercials, remote control of focus/iris/zoom is possible. It also supports focusing by dedicated focus operators, which is a mainstream shooting style in the cinema industry.
  • The gear pitch*5 of the focus ring is 0.8M (module). This allows the use of standard peripheral accessories in video production, such as follow focus and external motors.
  • With a front frame diameter of 114mm, the included lens hood can be used in addition to a matte box*6, which is often used in movie and commercial shooting.
  • *5 The distance between the teeth of a gear.
  • A large lens hood with high freedom of attachment and light-shielding adjustment for filter.

(5) Equipped with functions to support comfortable shooting and editing.

  • Equipped with the "Breathing Compensation Technology" which automatically corrects breathing (angle change) occurring during focus, ensuring a natural image without changes in the subject size during shooting.
  • Equipped with the "Remote Back Focus (RBF)" that allows remote adjustment of flange back focus through the camera and robotic control panel, achieving precise back focus adjustment while viewing a large monitor in the studio or OB vehicle.
  • Compatible with "ZEISS eXtended Data" developed in compliance with /i Technology*8 by Carl Zeiss, enabling external output of lens metadata during shooting to streamline the editing process after shooting.
  • *7 Distance from the lens mounting reference plane to the sensor.
  • *8 /i is a trademark or registered trademark of Cooke Optics Limited.
