Director Of Construction Partners Sold 80% Of Their Shares

Simply Wall St ·  Aug 29 18:32

Some Construction Partners, Inc. (NASDAQ:ROAD) shareholders may be a little concerned to see that the Director, Mark Matteson, recently sold a substantial US$7.6m worth of stock at a price of US$63.10 per share. That diminished their holding by a very significant 80%, which arguably implies a strong desire to reallocate capital.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Construction Partners

Notably, that recent sale by Mark Matteson is the biggest insider sale of Construction Partners shares that we've seen in the last year. So we know that an insider sold shares at around the present share price of US$64.19. While we don't usually like to see insider selling, it's more concerning if the sales take place at a lower price. We note that this sale took place at around the current price, so it isn't a major concern, though it's hardly a good sign.

Does Construction Partners Boast High Insider Ownership?

Looking at the total insider shareholdings in a company can help to inform your view of whether they are well aligned with common shareholders. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. Construction Partners insiders own about US$262m worth of shares (which is 7.6% of the company). I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.
