Trade Alert: Co-Vice Chairman Of VOXX International Beat Kahli Has Sold Stock

Simply Wall St ·  Aug 29 18:23

We wouldn't blame VOXX International Corporation (NASDAQ:VOXX) shareholders if they were a little worried about the fact that Beat Kahli, the Co-Vice Chairman recently netted about US$2.1m selling shares at an average price of US$5.00. That diminished their holding by a very significant 100%, which arguably implies a strong desire to reallocate capital.

VOXX International Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In fact, the recent sale by Beat Kahli was the biggest sale of VOXX International shares made by an insider individual in the last twelve months, according to our records. That means that an insider was selling shares at slightly below the current price (US$5.13). When an insider sells below the current price, it suggests that they considered that lower price to be fair. That makes us wonder what they think of the (higher) recent valuation. However, while insider selling is sometimes discouraging, it's only a weak signal. It is worth noting that this sale was 100% of Beat Kahli's holding.

Beat Kahli ditched 820.00k shares over the year. The average price per share was US$7.45. You can see the insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year depicted in the chart below. Insider Ownership Of VOXX International

For a common shareholder, it is worth checking how many shares are held by company insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. VOXX International insiders own about US$26m worth of shares. That equates to 24% of the company. We've certainly seen higher levels of insider ownership elsewhere, but these holdings are enough to suggest alignment between insiders and the other shareholders.

So What Do The VOXX International Insider Transactions Indicate?

An insider sold stock recently, but they haven't been buying. Despite some insider buying, the longer term picture doesn't make us feel much more positive. Insider ownership isn't particularly high, so this analysis makes us cautious about the company. We'd practice some caution before buying! While it's good to be aware of what's going on with the insider's ownership and transactions, we make sure to also consider what risks are facing a stock before making any investment decision. Our analysis shows 4 warning signs for VOXX International (3 are potentially serious!) and we strongly recommend you look at these before investing.
