CWT INT'L (00521.HK) announced on August 28th that for the six months ended June 30, 2024, the group's revenue was HKD 20.276 billion (restated in 2023: HKD 15.971 billion); and the net profit for the period was HKD 0.136 billion (2023: HKD 0.159 billion). The group reported a net profit of zero from discontinued operations (restated in 2023: net profit of HKD 1.657 million) and a net profit of HKD 0.136 billion from continuing operations (restated in 2023: HKD 0.158 billion). The decrease in net profit from continuing operations is mainly due to (i) increased interest costs, partly due to the extended metal delivery cycle caused by logistics interruptions in the commodity trading division; and (ii) the highly volatile and supply-restricted soft commodities such as cocoa beans and coffee beans in the logistics department of the commodity logistics division. However, the net profit of the warehousing and integrated logistics department has improved significantly compared to the first half of 2023, offsetting some of the negative impact.
