According to the latest forecast from the China Central Meteorological Observatory on Wednesday evening, this super typhoon will land around Kyushu Island in southern Japan until tomorrow (August 29), then move all the way along Japan's narrow land, affecting central and eastern Japan one after another. The effects of heavy wind and rain will continue until early next week.

Faced with the arrival of this historically strong typhoon, the Japan Meteorological Agency also issued a “special typhoon warning” on Wednesday. This is the highest level of weather warning for Japan to deal with typhoons, and it should usually be “only issued once every few decades.”

The Japanese authorities warned that the typhoon could intensify further, blow down some houses, and cause flash floods and landslides. The Japanese government issued evacuation warnings for nearly 1 million local residents on Tuesday and Wednesday. Since the typhoon is moving very slowly, it will significantly increase the amount of rainfall the affected areas can withstand, as well as the time it takes for destructive winds to hit the coast.
The Japan Meteorological Agency predicts that within 24 hours until Thursday evening, rainfall in southern Kyushu could reach 600 mm, rainfall in northern Kyushu could reach 400 mm, and rainfall in Tokai and Shikoku could reach 300 mm.
Before the typhoon landed, wind and rain had already caused disasters. As of Wednesday evening, the Kyushu Electric Power Company said the number of households without power in Kagoshima Prefecture had rapidly risen to 0.05 million households.

ANA said it cancelled a total of more than 210 domestic flights scheduled to arrive or depart from southwestern Japan from Wednesday to Friday. Japan Airlines will also cancel 402 domestic flights. A number of companies announced the cessation of production
Faced with heavy storms, Toyota Motor Corporation has announced that from Wednesday afternoon to Thursday morning, all 14 of the company's factories in Japan will be suspended, and it will be decided whether to resume production on Thursday morning. This is also the first time since August of last year that the company has completely stopped production. Toyota said the decision took into account the safety of employees and related personnel, as well as the possible shortage of parts due to the typhoon.
Honda Motor said that the company's Kyushu plant will stop production starting Thursday and continuing until Friday morning. Mazda will also start suspending production at its Hiroshima and Hofu plants on Thursday evening.
TSMC also responded that Japan's advanced semiconductor manufacturing company in Kumamoto Prefecture, Kyushu, is taking preventive measures, including setting up an “emergency response team” on standby.
