Aurora Mobile executives interview series: CTO introduces JPush's business on the Huawei Developer Alliance Eco-Market.

Gelonghui Finance ·  Aug 27 16:14

As the first SDK service provider to be listed on the HarmonyOS ecological market, Aurora Mobile was visited by a well-known domestic technology journalist in late July, for an interview with Aurora's Chief Technology Officer, Zhang Qing.

Interviewer: Recently, Aurora announced that it has become the first service provider to complete the listing of push-related SDKs on the HarmonyOS ecological market. Can we talk about this news?

Zhang Qing: With the rapid development of HarmonyOS, more and more developers are paying attention to how to achieve efficient and stable message push functionality on this system. As a leading player in the industry, Aurora Mobile has deep cooperation with Huawei and together, we have completed the native adaptation work for HarmonyOS NEXT. Whether it's smartphones, tablets or other smart devices running HarmonyOS, developers can easily integrate and achieve message push functionality, which is highly stable and ensures precise and timely delivery of messages to users.

At the same time, Aurora Mobile's push service (JPush) fully supports and is compatible with Android, iOS, HarmonyOS, and quick apps, providing system-level push channels such as Aurora Channel, APNS, FCM, Huawei, Honor, Xiaomi, OPPO, VIVO, Meizu, Asus, and more. Through flexible configuration of the Aurora Channel and vendor channel push strategy, JPush's server supports millions of messages per second and can reach end users in milliseconds. Meanwhile, our compatibility with HarmonyOS also helps us further consolidate our position in overseas markets.

Interviewer: Please provide a specific introduction to the core advantages of Aurora's push service.

Zhang Qing: The core advantages are mainly as follows: 1) Rapid construction of push capabilities: Rapid integration of SDK, easy-to-use console and API, allowing applications to build powerful push capabilities in just one hour; 2) Flexible target filtering: Providing user-defined tags and alias systems, seamlessly connecting with Aurora's comprehensive network data, enabling precise user segmentation; 3) Efficient, secure, and stable system: Handling billions of messages per day, with high concurrency and reliability, overseas dedicated lines, and multi-point backup to ensure system stability, security, and efficiency; 4) Fast message delivery: Flexible configuration of push strategies for both the Aurora Channel and vendor channels, enabling the server to deliver millions of messages per second and reach end users in milliseconds; 5) Accurate post-analysis: The product supports statistics on the number of messages, delivery rates, display rates, and click rates across different platforms and channels. It also supports stage-based and source-based analysis of message degradation, allowing for improved push strategies.

Interviewer: What financial or reporting benefits can the partnership between Aurora Mobile and HarmonyOS bring to Aurora Mobile?

Zhang Qing: That's a great question. Although this is usually the expertise of the Chief Financial Officer, let me try to provide a more accurate interpretation. Due to the successful testing and review of our JPush by the Huawei Developer Alliance, we have become the first push notification service provider to be launched on the platform.

From a financial perspective, we have noticed that many of our major customers have upgraded their push notification systems to include the ability to send notifications to HarmonyOS NEXT devices. I believe that in the near future, we will receive more customer upgrade requirements. Therefore, we will have more upgrade projects (and revenue). I am sure our CFO is very pleased.

Interviewer: Let me slightly change the topic, but still in the IT field. I noticed that the group added additional data centers in Hong Kong in May 2024. Can you share the underlying logic behind this investment with us?

Zhang Qing: With the rapid growth of global data exchange, international customers have increasingly higher requirements for data security and compliance. The selection of data center nodes for push services is not only related to data access speed and user experience, but also directly involves data compliance and security.

A multi-data center storage solution allows customers to store different applications under the same organization in multiple data centers located in different geographical locations. This distributed storage method ensures data redundancy and reliability, and reduces the risk of data loss or damage. At the same time, the distance of the data centers affects the communication latency between users and servers when accessing the EngageLab platform. By choosing closer data centers, latency can be effectively reduced, improving user experience and allowing users to access and use Aurora Mobile's services more quickly.

In addition, multi-data center storage enables customers to better comply with data security and compliance regulations in different countries and regions, such as the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the US's California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

Interviewer: Thank you for taking the time to share the details of this cooperation and its impact on your company.

Zhang Qing: I'm glad to be able to share with everyone.
