GVW on August 26 | See (0244.HK) expects to record a shareholder's net loss of between 26 million and 28 million Hong Kong dollars for the middle of this year ending on June 30, compared with a net loss of about 17.5 million Hong Kong dollars in the same period last year. The company pointed out that during the first half of this year, the Hong Kong consumer and retail market suffered from weak consumer purchasing power, leading to intense competition among retailers and the need to launch more promotional activities and price reductions. The overall market sentiment is generally low, which also affects the group's performance in the first half of this year. The group's losses increased in the first half of this year mainly due to a decrease in income of over 10% compared to the income of about 74.4 million Hong Kong dollars recorded in the first half of last year; the gross profit margin based on income decreased from about 59% in the first half of last year to about 55% due to increased price promotions. In addition to the decrease in income, the gross profit decreased by about 7 million to 8 million Hong Kong dollars; and the financing cost increased by about 1.6 million Hong Kong dollars. The company signed a temporary agreement on April 12 this year to sell the properties it holds, and it is estimated that the group will record a sale income of about 30 million Hong Kong dollars. However, it needs to be completed and verified before it can be implemented, and the property sale was completed in July this year. Therefore, the group's performance in the first half of this year does not take into account the financial impact of the related sales.
