According to the Zhongtong Finance APP, Celestial Asia (01049) released its interim performance for the six months ending on June 30, 2024. During this period, the group achieved a profit of 0.459 billion Hong Kong dollars, a decrease of 9.8% year-on-year; shareholders' loss was 27.104 million Hong Kong dollars, narrowing by 45.88% year-on-year; and the basic loss per share was 33.6 Hong Kong cents.
The announcement stated that despite the weak global market economy in the first half of 2024, the group's managed assets remained stable. The multi-strategy algorithmic trading of the futures portfolio continued to outperform traditional stock indices. The asset management business achieved a profit of 1.6 million Hong Kong dollars and a branch surplus of 3.8 million Hong Kong dollars, compared to 2.6 million Hong Kong dollars in profit and 8.9 million Hong Kong dollars in branch surplus in the same period of 2023.
