According to data released by the China National Chemical Engineering and Physical Power Industry Association, in July 2024, China's lithium-ion battery exports reached 0.328 billion units, staying flat year-on-year. The export value of lithium-ion batteries reached $5.351 billion, a year-on-year increase of 7%, marking the first positive year-on-year growth in monthly export value since 2024. From January to July 2024, the export volume of lithium-ion batteries reached 2.16 billion units, an increase of 4.3% year-on-year, and the export value reached $32.597 billion, a decrease of 12% year-on-year. The United States remains the largest export market for China's lithium-ion batteries, with exports to the United States reaching $7.389 billion from January to July 2024, a year-on-year increase of 2.7%, accounting for 22.7% of China's total lithium-ion battery exports. Germany is the second-largest market, with an export value of $5.887 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 0.4%, accounting for 18.1% of China's lithium-ion battery exports; South Korea is the third-largest market, with an export value of $2.153 billion, a significant year-on-year decrease of 56.4%, accounting for 6.6% of China's lithium-ion battery exports.
From January to July 2024, Fujian province remained the largest source of China's lithium-ion battery exports, with an export value of $8.683 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 10.1%, accounting for 26.6% of China's total lithium-ion battery exports; the export volume reached 0.151 billion units, an increase of 11.9% year-on-year. Guangdong province ranked second, with an export value of $7.629 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 13.5%, accounting for 23.4% of China's lithium-ion battery exports; the export volume was 0.73 billion units, a year-on-year increase of 10.6%. Jiangsu province ranked third, with an export value of $5.298 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 33.5%, accounting for 16.3% of China's lithium-ion battery exports; the export volume was 0.42 billion units, a year-on-year decrease of 17.6%. The lithium-ion battery exports from Fujian, Guangdong, and Jiangsu provinces accounted for 66.3% of the national total.
Among them, the three provinces with the highest year-on-year growth in export value from January to July 2024 were Hubei, Guangxi, and Liaoning, with export values increasing by 195.5%, 138.1%, and 33.2% respectively. The three provinces and cities with the highest year-on-year growth in export volume were Hubei, Shanghai, and Guangxi, with export volumes increasing by 215.1%, 109.1%, and 26.5% respectively.
