According to the Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily on August 22nd, Jilin OLED Material Tech announced that it achieved a revenue of 342 million yuan in the first half of this year, a YoY growth of 4.39%; and achieved a net income attributable to shareholders of 91.81 million yuan, a YoY decrease of 5.81%.

In the second quarter of this year, Jilin OLED Material Tech achieved a revenue of 83.86 million yuan, a YoY decrease of 2.90% and a QoQ decrease of 67.52%; the net income attributable to shareholders during the same period was a loss of 3.2 million yuan, a YoY decrease of 219.75% and a QoQ decrease of 103.37%.

In the first half of this year, the company's research and development investment amounted to 69.1216 million yuan, a YoY increase of 14.44%. The R&D investment accounted for 20.21% of the revenue, an increase of 1.78 percentage points.

Jilin OLED Material Tech is a representative enterprise in the domestic OLED materials and evaporation source equipment industry. Its downstream customers mainly include JD.com, Skyworth Group, TCL China Star, Visionox Technology Inc., and Hisense Electric Co.,Ltd., etc.

The company stated in its semi-annual report that it officially launched the production of 6th generation AMOLED linear evaporation source equipment in 2017. Among the domestic panel manufacturers who conducted bidding for the procurement of 6th generation AMOLED linear evaporation sources, Jilin OLED Material Tech is the only domestic supplier and has long held the highest market share.

Jilin OLED Material Tech stated that in the first half of this year, based on the strong demand in the consumer electronics market and the localized substitution demand, the company's organic light-emitting material revenue grew significantly to 21 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 48.91%, accounting for 61.58% of total revenue. Meanwhile, the revenue from PSPI materials reached 110 million yuan during the same period and is in an increasing trend.

As for the evaporation source equipment, due to the impact of the construction cycle of the 6th generation line and other factors, the domestic 6th generation AMOLED line construction has basically entered its final stage. This has led to a relative decrease in the demand for evaporation sources, causing Jilin OLED Material Tech's equipment business revenue to decline by 29.48% in the first half of this year to 13.1 billion yuan, accounting for 38.34% of total revenue.

"However, according to the investment plans of the panel enterprises that have been announced, some panel manufacturers still have the demand for additional evaporation sources to improve processes and for renovation and maintenance, which will support the company's equipment business," Jilin OLED Material Tech also stated.

"The Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily" noted that as the domestic 6th generation AMOLED line construction has basically entered its final stage, domestic and foreign manufacturers such as Samsung, jd.com, and Visionox Technology Inc. have successively announced the planning of 8.6 generation AMOLED production lines. The market space for 8.6 generation linear evaporation sources is enormous.

By the end of the first half of this year, Jilin OLED Material Tech had completed the production of the prototype of the 8.6 generation linear evaporation source, and is currently conducting performance and parameter testing, market expansion, and R&D investment and technical development related to silicon-based OLED sputtering machines and titanium-based sputtering equipment.

It is reported that the company is exploring the gradual introduction of advanced digital technologies such as AI and high-throughput screening into the material development process, extending into the packaging material and PSPI fields. Progress has been accelerated in the localization substitution of related products, including PFAS-Free PSPI, black photoresist (BPDL), PR, thinning formulations for encapsulation materials, and low dielectric constant technology development.
