Fisco Japan ·  Aug 20 14:48

As of the closing on the 20th, the number of rising stocks of the Nikkei average constituent stocks was 204, the number of declining stocks was 20, and the number of unchanged stocks was 1.

On the 19th, the U.S. stock market continued to rise. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 236.77 points (+0.58%) to 40,896.53, the Nasdaq rose 245.05 points (+ 1.39%) to 17,876.77, and the S&P 500 rose 54.00 points (+ 0.97%) to 5,608.25. The economy is expected to avoid rapid slowdowns and achieve a soft landing, so it rose after opening due to expectations. In addition, the Daily San Francisco Fed President, Kashkari Minneapolis Fed President, and Goolsbee Chicago Fed President all showed a positive attitude towards a rate cut in September in weekend interviews, supporting expectations of gradual rate cuts and leading to buying all day long. Semiconductor supported the market, and the stock prices expanded in the latter half of the day.

The Tokyo stock market started trading with a buying trend due to factors such as the halt in the rise of US stocks and the appreciation of the yen against foreign currencies. The Nikkei average started at the 37800 yen level and gradually expanded its gains to recover the 38000 yen level. Although it has regained the previous day's decline, it is difficult to determine the direction of selection because it is being led by futures. More than 90% of the prime market rose, but the trading volume fell below 3.9 trillion yen and the 4 trillion yen level.

At the closing, the Nikkei average was 38,062.92 yen, up 674.30 yen (+1.80%) from the previous day. The trading volume of the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market was 1,735,035,020 shares. Trading value was 3,963,000,000,000 yen. By industry category, pulp and paper, land transportation, nonferrous metals, air transportation, and electricity and gas businesses rose, while only two sectors, banking and retail, fell. The percentage of advancing stocks in the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market was 90%, while the percentage of declining stocks was 7%.
