Hong Kong residents aged 60 years or older will be required to use the Lyu Card to enjoy the $2 fare discount from this Sunday (25th).

MTR (00066.HK) SAYS THAT IF PASSENGERS AGED 65 OR OLDER CONTINUE TO USE THEIR CURRENT “UNNAMED ELDER OCTAGON” OR “SENIOR PERSONAL OCTAVE” RIDE ON MTR, THE DISCOUNT IS ONLY ABOUT HALF THE PRICE OF AN ADULT CAR. For passengers aged 60 to 64 years old, adult fare will be charged if they do not use the Lyu Card.

MTR reminds that due to the fact that it takes approximately four weeks to apply for a “Lyu Card”, eligible persons who have not yet applied should submit their applications as soon as possible. In addition, those who already hold a “Leu Card” must add more than $50 before using a “Leu Card” for the first time and ensure that the balance of the card is positive before the gate.
