The Japan Meteorological Agency lifted the warning for a large earthquake yesterday (15th), and EGL Holdings (06882.HK) announced an upgrade to its existing "EGL Ultimate Global Coverage" plan, adding a special earthquake coverage for Japan tour groups. If an earthquake with a magnitude of six or above occurs in Japan, customers who are departing on the day of or within three days of the earthquake can choose to cancel their trip and the company will fully refund all payments made by the customers without deducting any fees such as tour fees, airport taxes, fuel surcharges and insurance premiums.
Assuming a magnitude six or above earthquake occurs on August 1st and the customer was originally scheduled to depart from August 1st to 4th, they can choose to cancel and receive a full refund of all tour fees and insurance premiums. Xu Guoquan, executive director of EGL Holdings, said that this arrangement is expected to provide customers with more comprehensive travel protection.
