US stock market continued to rise. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 40,563.06, up 554.67 points, and the Nasdaq closed at 17,594.50, up 401.90 points. After the opening, it rose due to the decline in vigilance over the deterioration of consumption and labor markets, which had been negatively affected by retail sales and weekly jobless claims. Dollar-yen rose from 147.19 yen to 149.32 yen in the foreign exchange market in New York on the 15th and closed at 149.20 yen. In addition to the maximum increase since January last year in US July retail sales, the number of initial jobless claims for the last week was below expectations, proving the resilience of consumption and the labor market, and concerns about a sharp slowdown in the economy receded, resulting in an increase in dollar buying as interest rates rose. The yen selling of risk preference also intensified. The euro-dollar fell from 1.1014 dollars to 1.0950 dollars and closed at 1.0972 dollars.
