Revenue decreased by 6.9% year-on-year to 2.068 billion yen, operating profit decreased by 57.1% to 0.027 billion yen, ordinary profit decreased by 91.0% to 0.005 billion yen, and net income attributable to parent company shareholders for the quarter increased by 354.5% to 0.117 billion yen.
Revenue from Internet-related businesses decreased by 22.0% year-on-year to 0.339 billion yen, and segment profit decreased by 24.0% to 0.025 billion yen. Despite the IT engineer demand increasing and the smooth progress of Internet-related system development, revenue was affected by the sale of one subsidiary.
Revenue from communication business decreased by 13.4% year-on-year to 0.039 billion yen, and the segment loss was 0.001 billion yen (compared to a loss of 0.009 billion yen in the same period last year). The MVNO business was affected by intensified competition from rival companies.
Revenue from dispensing pharmacies and related businesses decreased by 3.0% year-on-year to 1.693 billion yen, and segment profit increased by 14.4% to 0.077 billion yen. The decrease in revenue was due to the revision of medical reimbursement and drug price, as well as the decrease in prescription unit price. However, profitable growth was achieved through cost reduction. As of the end of the first quarter, the total number of pharmacies in the Sophia Group was 56.
Other revenue was 0.002 billion yen, and the segment loss was 0.017 billion yen. As of the previous consolidated fiscal year, Sophia Global Works and SOPHIA SG MANAGEMENT PTE.LTD. were established to start new businesses, such as recruitment services and related businesses for foreigners.
The consolidated performance forecast for the full fiscal year ending in March 2025 maintains the initial plan with revenue of 8.832 billion yen, down 2.2% from the previous year, operating profit of 0.083 billion yen, down 64.5% year-on-year, ordinary profit of 0.039 billion yen, down 77.0% year-on-year, and net income attributable to parent company shareholders of 0.01 billion yen.
